INTRODUCING OUR 2022 GALA CO-CHAIRS!
We are delighted to Co-Chair the 2022 Gala as a desire to celebrate and showcase FASNY’s international community. As our biggest fundraising event, the success of the Gala offers the school the privilege of advancing mission-driven innovations such as STEAM/STEM projects, professional development for teachers, and investing in projects that accelerate and enhance the learning experience of FASNY students. Participating in this Gala also allows us to perpetuate FASNY’s tradition of permitting families the opportunity to join the school by balancing education and economic diversity. We are excited to bring the community back together for an amazing night of food, dancing, laughter and most importantly raising funds for the benefit of our children.
We are thrilled to continue this tradition and to make this one of the most unforgettable Gala’s in FASNY history!
Nelcida M. Armand
My name is Nelcida M. Armand, Esq. I am a Haitian mother of three beautiful children, Shay, Kator, and Niara. We currently reside in Mount Vernon. Our family has been part of the FASNY community for the past three years. My eldest, Shay, is a high school freshman in the International Program while my youngest, Niara is in 2nd grade in the French American Program.
When not busy enjoying being a mom, volunteering at our Parish or FASNY, I am an attorney primarily practicing Real Estate and Foreclosure Litigation in both New York and New Jersey at the state and federal levels. It gives me great pleasure and honor to co-chair the 2022 gala with two exquisite women, Uwera and Adama.
Uwera Rwayitare Rodriguez
My name is Uwera Rwayitare Rodriguez. I’m Rwandese and Congolese, and my husband John is German and Puerto Rican. We have 3 boys at Fasny: Noah (3rd Grade), Gabriel (Kindergarten), and Malachi (Pre-K). We have been at FASNY since my oldest, Noah, started nursery in 2016.
I have been working as a midwife for the last seven years providing care to a community of underserved women in the Bronx. Two years ago, after giving birth to Malachi, I started Nogama Fine Jewelry, an online jewelry boutique, named after my three boys.
I have been a class delegate for several years and had a lot of fun coordinating events for the parents and students throughout the year. Halfway through last year, I became the Preschool (N-K) campus representative and still hold the position. I have a love for event planning and have volunteered in the past galas on the decoration committee. I am so excited to be co-chair of the 2022 Gala!
Adama Ndiaye Somlay
My name is Adama Ndiaye Somlay. With my husband Thomas, we have 3 children at FASNY: John 4th grade, Kéwé 8th grade, and Laszlo 11th grade.
On a personal note, I was born and raised in Dakar, Sénégal. After graduating from high school, I moved to Paris where I studied tourism and hospitality. This led me to work for many years in the hotel industry. I was lucky enough to experience client-facing as well as corporate roles in a number of different countries across Europe, Africa, The Middle East, and North America.
After Kéwé’s birth in 2008, Thomas and I needed to slow down a little on our “nomadic” lifestyle. It is then when I decided to create my own digital retail company which I operated until we moved to New York in 2017.
I now enjoy dedicating my time to support my family, my friends, and FASNY in the best way possible. What I love about FASNY is its remarkable community, its amazing faculty, and the exceptional quality of its multicultural education, a priceless gift to our children.
